Sam can write your weekly email, show it to you for approval, and send it on schedule — so the newsletter you keep meaning to write actually goes out.
The work is done by your Content Specialist, which handles newsletters and regular sends. Nothing reaches your list without you saying yes. Sam drafts, you approve, it sends.
- →Your email platform connected, so Sam works from your real list and segments rather than starting empty. Connect a tool to Sam.
- →Your brand voice filled in. The Content Specialist writes from it, and it is the difference between an email that sounds like you and one that sounds like software. Make Sam sound and look like your brand.
Step 1 - Ask the Content Specialist for a weekly email
Open Content Specialist under Your Marketing Team and describe what you want in the Ask me anything.. box:
“Write my list a weekly email every Thursday. Draft it and check with me before it sends.”
Ask here rather than in Sam AI. The automation belongs to whoever you create it with, so the drafts arrive alongside the rest of your written work instead of in a general chat.
Sam replies with what it plans to send and asks the questions it needs answered: what the email should generally be about, which list or segment it goes to, and when.
Step 2 - Tell Sam what the email is for
"A weekly email" is not enough to write from. Give Sam a shape it can repeat:
- A theme — one useful thing you know, a behind-the-scenes note, a product in focus.
- A length — short and scannable, or something people sit down with.
- A job — sell something, bring people back to the site, or just stay in the inbox.
- The segment — everyone, buyers only, people who have not bought yet.
Then confirm the timing. Sam sets the schedule and tells you when the first draft will appear.
Step 3 - Approve the draft
Each week the draft arrives in the Content Specialist chat before it sends, and is saved to the Workbench. You get the subject line and the full body, written in your brand voice.
Three things you can do with it:
- Approve it — say so and it goes out on schedule.
- Change it — "make it shorter", "lead with the discount", "cut the last section". Sam rewrites and shows you again.
- Skip the week — tell Sam not to send this one. The schedule carries on as normal.
Approving is a reply in the chat, so anywhere you can open Sam is somewhere you can approve from, phone included.
Ask for the draft a day or two before it sends rather than the morning of. A Tuesday draft for a Thursday send gives you room to change it without the deadline forcing your hand.
Step 4 - Check what went out
Open the Content Specialist's Settings tab and expand Automations to see the schedule and whether it is active. The clock icon on the automation opens Run History, where each week shows as Success, Partial, or Failed with the error underneath.
Every draft stays in the Workbench, so you can look back at what you have already sent before approving something that repeats it.
- ✓Every week, Sam writes the email in your voice from the theme you agreed.
- ✓Before anything sends, the draft comes to you for approval.
- ✓When you approve, it goes to the list or segment you chose, on schedule.
- ✓Every draft, is saved to the Workbench so you can see what you have already said.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Sam send an email without me seeing it?
No. Sam writes and you approve before anything sends. If you do not approve a draft, it does not go out.
What if I ignore the draft?
It does not send. An unapproved email stays a draft, and the next week's is written as normal.
Can I change the email after approving it?
Change it before you approve rather than after. Once it has gone to your email platform it is out of Sam's hands.
Can Sam write to a specific segment?
Yes, if your email platform is connected. Name the segment when you set it up, or change it later in the chat.
Content Specialist or Promotions Specialist?
Content for newsletters and regular sends. Promotions for sequences tied to a launch or an offer. Ask Sam if you are unsure and it will route the work.
Can it include images?
The Designer Specialist makes visuals and they are handed over automatically when a piece needs one, so ask for them as part of the email.
Does it use credits?
Yes. Writing a full email each week costs more per run than a short report, and it runs weekly rather than daily. See how much usage you have left.
