Track what Sam is spending for you

Sam shows you what your credits went on, so a big number is something you can explain rather than something you have to accept.

Credits get spent by work you asked for directly and by automations running on their own. The second kind is the one worth watching, because it happens whether or not you have Sam open.

Step 1 - Open AI Usage

Select the profile icon on your account chip in the bottom left corner, then choose AI Usage.

This covers the whole account, so if you run more than one business line the numbers include all of them. The date range in the top right corner tells you which period you are looking at.

Step 2 - Read the two charts

Credits used over time is your running total across the period. Its job is to answer one question: are you on pace, or heading for a shortfall before the reset?

Credits used per day breaks the same usage into individual days, and this is the one that explains things. A tall bar is a day something substantial ran. Match it against what you were doing — a batch of images, a playbook, a launch — and the number stops being mysterious.

A day you were not working that still shows a bar is an automation. That is not a problem in itself, but it is worth knowing which one.

Step 3 - See what your team produced

Seven counters show what was actually made this period: Chats with SAM and Messages for how much you talked to your team, Images created and Videos rendered and Pages built for finished assets, Creations as the total across all of them, and Background Tasks for the work that ran without you asking — the automations you set up earlier.

Read them next to the spend. Heavy credit use with a high image and video count is a productive period. Heavy credit use with little to show for it usually means something is running that you have forgotten about.

Step 4 - Compare against earlier periods

Change the date range in the top right corner to look back. One period on its own tells you very little; three tells you whether this month is genuinely expensive or just normal.

If a period jumped, work backwards: find the tall bars in Credits used per day, then match them against what your automations were doing. Each specialist's Settings tab lists its automations and their run history.

Tip

Check usage a week after setting up any new automation. That is long enough to see what it costs per run and cheap enough to change your mind about the frequency.

What you get from this
  • ✓At a glance, whether you are on pace for the period or heading for a shortfall.
  • ✓Day by day, which days were expensive and what ran on them.
  • ✓Against output, whether the spend produced anything worth having.
  • ✓Across periods, whether this month is unusual or simply what you now use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my credits jump on one day?
Check Credits used per day and match the spike to what you were doing. Larger jobs such as multi-step playbooks or batch generation use considerably more than a short conversation.

Does this include all my business lines?
Yes. AI Usage is account-wide.

What counts as a Creation?
Anything your team produced across images, documents, pages and the rest, which is why it is higher than any single counter.

Will my costs rise if AI gets more expensive?
No. Sam absorbs sudden increases rather than passing them on, and when costs fall those savings come back to you. Your usage reflects the work you asked for.

Where do I go if the number is a problem?
Top up when you're running low covers adding credits, auto reload and spend limits.
