Connect HubSpot and Sam can answer questions from your CRM, such as who a contact is, where a deal stands and how your marketing emails performed, and keep contacts and deals up to date for you.
What Sam can look up in HubSpot

- Your deal and ticket pipelines and their stages
- Your contact lists and forms

What Sam can't do in HubSpot yet

- Start a HubSpot workflow or sequence.
- Add contacts to lists.
Connect HubSpot
- →Permission to create private apps in your HubSpot account.
Step 1 - Create a private app in HubSpot
- In HubSpot, go to Settings > Integrations > Private Apps and create a private app.
- Grant the scopes Sam needs, for example crm.objects.contacts.read and crm.objects.deals.read. For Sam to create and update contacts and deals, grant the matching write scopes too.
- Copy the access token.
Step 2 - Open the integrations marketplace
Select Connect your tools at the bottom of the left sidebar, above your profile. Search for HubSpot or find it under Browse Integrations.
Step 3 - Paste it in and connect
Select HubSpot, paste what you copied into the fields Sam shows, and select Connect. Once it succeeds, it moves to your Connected tab.
When you connect, you may see a screen of checkboxes, and some are easy to scroll past. Sam can only do what you allow. If you untick one, the matching actions in the list above will fail with a permission error.
If Sam says it can't reach HubSpot later on, see When Sam can't reach one of your tools.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Sam send emails from HubSpot?
Not yet. Sam can read your marketing emails and their results, and write new ones for you to put into HubSpot.
Sam can read my contacts but can't update them. Why?
The private app probably only has read scopes. Add the write scopes for contacts and deals to the app in HubSpot, then try again.
