Use Kajabi with Sam

Connect Kajabi and Sam can answer questions about your business from real numbers: who bought what, which offers are selling, and how your list and course audience are growing. The connection is read-only, and email is the big gap: Kajabi doesn't give outside apps any way to create or send emails, so Sam writes them and you send them from Kajabi.

What Sam can look up in Kajabi

  • Your Kajabi sites and the user the connection belongs to
  • Your contacts and tags, including people who haven't bought yet
  • Your customers and what each one has bought
  • Your offers and their pricing, and the products and courses behind them
  • Orders, purchases and payment transactions, including refunds
  • Your opt-in forms and who has filled them in

What Sam can't do in Kajabi yet

  • Write, schedule or send emails in Kajabi. Kajabi doesn't let outside apps create or send broadcasts or sequences, so Sam writes the email and you paste it into Kajabi.
  • Add or edit contacts, or tag people.
  • Grant or remove access to an offer.
  • Put a page into Kajabi. Sam builds it, and you copy it across.

Connect Kajabi

What you'll need
  • →Owner or Subowner access to Kajabi. Other roles can't create API keys.
  • →Kajabi's Public API, which comes with the Pro plan or as a paid add-on from Kajabi support.

Step 1 - Create an API key in Kajabi

  1. In Kajabi, go to Settings > Public API. If you don't see it, your plan doesn't include API access yet.
  2. Select Create User API Key, name it Sam, choose the user and permissions, and select Create.
  3. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret. Older Kajabi API keys and secrets won't work.

Step 2 - Open the integrations marketplace

Select Connect your tools at the bottom of the left sidebar, above your profile. Search for Kajabi or find it under Browse Integrations.

Step 3 - Paste it in and connect

Select Kajabi, paste what you copied into the fields Sam shows, and select Connect. Once it succeeds, it moves to your Connected tab.

Then choose which Kajabi site Sam should read from. With one site it's picked for you. Until a site is chosen, Sam can't list contacts, orders or anything else.

Leave every permission ticked

When you connect, you may see a screen of checkboxes, and some are easy to scroll past. Sam can only do what you allow. If you untick one, the matching actions in the list above will fail with a permission error.

If Sam says it can't reach Kajabi later on, see When Sam can't reach one of your tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Sam send my emails through Kajabi?
Not yet, and this one is on Kajabi's side: its API has no way for any outside app to create or send a broadcast or sequence. Sam can still write the email in your brand voice and base it on your real contacts and sales. You paste it into Kajabi and send it from there.

I have more than one Kajabi site. Which one does Sam see?
Only the site you picked when you connected. To work with another site, add a second connection and pick that site instead.

Why can't Sam change anything else in Kajabi?
The Kajabi connection is read-only for now. Kajabi does allow outside apps to update contacts, tags and offers, so this may change. For now, Sam tells you what to change and you make the change in Kajabi.
