Put Sam to Work: Automations 5 min read Updated Sep 2, 2026

Keep your social feed full without logging in

Sam can plan and write a week of social posts at a time, show them to you together, and put them out once you say yes.

Your Social Media Specialist handles organic content — the posts you publish, not the ads you pay to promote. It writes platform-native, so a LinkedIn post and a TikTok caption are not the same text with different hashtags.

You get finished posts, not captions waiting for artwork. When a post needs a visual, the Social Media Specialist hands it to the Designer Specialist, which produces the image, carousel slides or short video and passes it back. Ask for a week of Instagram posts and the images come with them.

What you'll need
  • →The platforms you actually post on, connected. Sam can publish to them and report on how posts performed. Connect a tool to Sam.
  • →Your brand voice and content pillars filled in, so a week of posts sounds like one person wrote it.

Step 1 - Ask for a week at a time

Open Social Media Specialist under Your Marketing Team and describe the rhythm you want:

“Every Friday, plan next week's posts for Instagram and LinkedIn. Show me the whole week before anything goes out.”

A week is the right unit. Asking post by post means approving something every day, which is the habit that fails. A week gives you one review and seven posts.

Sam replies with what it plans to cover and asks what it needs: which platforms, how many posts, and what the week should be about.

Step 2 - Set the pillars and the cadence

Tell Sam what the week should be made of rather than leaving it to guess:

  • Themes — the two or three subjects you want to be known for.
  • Volume — three posts a week you will stand behind beats seven you would not.
  • Formats — carousels, short-form video, single images, plain text. Sam has a playbook for each, and anything visual is produced for you rather than described.
  • Publish or queue — Sam can post directly to connected accounts, or queue posts through a connected scheduling tool if you would rather they went through your existing setup.

Sam confirms the schedule and tells you when the first week arrives.

Step 3 - Review the week in one go

The plan arrives in the Social Media Specialist chat and is saved to the Workbench. You get every post for the week — the copy, the format, the platform and the day.

Posts arrive with their visuals attached — carousel slides built out, Reel footage cut, single images made to your brand kit. The handoff to the Designer Specialist happens on its own, so you never brief it separately or chase artwork before a post can go out. Change the image the same way you change the copy: say what is wrong with it.

Approve the lot, or go through them: "swap Wednesday for something about the new roast", "cut the LinkedIn one", "make Tuesday a carousel instead". Sam rewrites and shows you again.

Nothing publishes until you approve it.

Tip

Ask Sam to reuse what you already have before writing from scratch. A blog post becomes a carousel, a carousel becomes a short video script — one idea covers a week, and it holds together better than seven unrelated posts.

Step 4 - Let it run, then adjust

Once approved, posts go out on the days you agreed. Open the Social Media Specialist's Settings tab and expand Automations to see the schedule and switch it off if you need a quiet week.

The clock icon on the automation opens Run History. Success means the week was planned and delivered; Partial and Failed carry a message explaining what did not work, which is usually a platform connection that needs renewing.

After a few weeks, ask what performed. With your accounts connected, Sam can tell you which posts earned attention and shape the next week around them.

What Sam does after you set this up
  • ✓Every week, Sam plans and writes a full week of posts against your themes.
  • ✓Where a visual is needed, the Designer Specialist builds it to your brand kit and attaches it to the post.
  • ✓Before anything goes live, the whole week comes to you for approval.
  • ✓Once approved, posts publish to your connected accounts on the days you set.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Sam post without asking me?
Not on this setup. The week comes to you first and nothing publishes until you approve it.

Can it schedule through the tool I already use?
Yes. Connect your scheduling tool and ask for posts to be queued through it rather than published directly.

Which platforms?
The Social Media Specialist writes for Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn and YouTube. What it can publish to depends on which accounts you have connected.

Do I get images or just captions?
Images. The Social Media Specialist writes the content, captions and scripts, and the Designer Specialist produces the visuals to go with them — carousel slides, single images, short video. The handoff is automatic, so a week of Instagram posts arrives ready to publish.

Will the visuals look like my brand?
They work from your brand kit — logo, colours, fonts. Filling that in properly is the difference between output that looks like yours and output that looks generic.

Social Media or Ads for Instagram?
Social Media for organic posts. Ads for anything you are paying to promote.

Can I approve some posts and not others?
Yes. Say which ones you want dropped or changed and Sam handles the rest of the week as planned.

Does it use credits?
Yes. A week of posts is a larger job than a report, particularly when visuals are involved. See how much usage you have left.
