Top up when you're running low

When your credits are running low you can add more without waiting for your plan to reset, and set things up so it never catches you out again.

Your plan includes an allowance of credits that resets each period. Everything your team does draws on it — writing, images, video, scheduled automations, playbooks. Run out mid-campaign and work stops, which is the situation this page exists to avoid.

What you'll need
  • →Access to billing on your account.
  • →A look at how much usage you have left first, so you top up against a real number rather than a guess.

Step 1 - Check where you actually are

Select the profile icon on your account chip in the bottom left corner, then choose AI Usage.

The top of the page shows credits used against what your plan includes, as a running total and a percentage, with the number remaining and the date it resets. That last figure matters most: 20% left with three days to go is fine, and 20% left with three weeks to go is not.

Step 2 - Add credits

From the AI Usage page, Set spend limits and manage overages in billing takes you straight to the right place.

In billing you can add overage credits, which top up the balance you have now. They are there for the period you are in, so you can get through a launch without changing your plan over it.

Step 3 - Turn on auto reload so it stops happening

Auto reload adds credits automatically when your balance runs down, which is the difference between noticing you are low and finding out because something stopped.

Worth turning on if any of these are true:

  • You have scheduled automations running. They draw credits whether or not you are watching.
  • You run campaigns with deadlines.
  • More than one person is using the account.

Pair it with a spend limit and you have both ends covered — the work does not stop, and the bill cannot surprise you.

Select Manage next to Auto reload in Billing, then set the two numbers: When balance drops to is the level that triggers it, and Reload to is the amount added when it fires. Confirm with Set.

Tip

Top up before a launch rather than during one. Credits used per day on the AI Usage page shows you what a busy day actually costs, which makes it easy to work out what a launch week needs.

What happens after you set this up
  • ✓Straight away, the credits you added are available to your whole team.
  • ✓With auto reload on, your balance tops up on its own before work is interrupted.
  • ✓With a spend limit set, that top-up cannot run past a number you chose.
  • ✓Each period, your plan allowance resets as normal on the date shown in AI Usage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I run out?
Work that needs credits stops until your allowance resets or you add more. Scheduled automations are the ones to watch, because they can fail quietly while you are not looking.

Do added credits expire when my plan resets?
Yes. Credits do not roll over — whatever is unused when the period resets is gone, and that includes credits you added on top. Add what the current period actually needs rather than banking a buffer for later.

Can I stop a top-up from being enormous?
Yes. Set a spend limit alongside auto reload. The limit is the ceiling, so the reload cannot run past it.

Should I top up or move up a plan?
If you are running out every period, the allowance is the problem and a plan change is the cheaper answer. Overage credits are for the unusual month.

Where do I see what used them?
Track what Sam is spending for you breaks it down, and Credits used per day shows which days were expensive.
