Connect MailerLite and Sam can run your email: keep subscribers and groups tidy, write campaigns with the full email in, and send them now or on a schedule. Sending and deleting wait for you to confirm first.
What Sam can look up in MailerLite
- Your subscribers, found by status, ID or email
- Your groups and who is in each one, your segments, and your custom fields
- Your campaigns, with their emails and stats
- Your automations, their steps, stats and subscriber activity
- MailerLite's timezone list, used when scheduling a send
What Sam can do in MailerLite
- Add and update subscribers, matching on email so there are no duplicates
- Create groups and custom fields
- Add subscribers to a group or take them out, without deleting them
- Write a campaign as a draft, with the full email in, and edit it while it's still a draft
- Send a campaign now or schedule it for later. Once it goes out, it can't be recalled. It can't be undone from Sam. Asks you first.
- Cancel a scheduled campaign, which turns it back into a draft
- Create an empty, switched-off automation for you to finish in MailerLite
- Permanently delete a subscriber, campaign or automation. It can't be undone from Sam. Asks you first.
Anything marked Asks you first pauses and waits for you to confirm before it runs.
What Sam can't do in MailerLite yet
- Add steps to an automation or switch one on. Sam can create an empty one for you to finish in MailerLite.
- Create segments. Sam works with the ones you already have.
Connect MailerLite
- →At least one verified sender email in MailerLite, so campaigns can be sent.
- →MailerLite's Advanced plan if you want Sam's own email design. On other plans, MailerLite puts the content into its default template.
Step 1 - Create an API token in MailerLite
- Log in to MailerLite and open Integrations from the left sidebar.
- Find MailerLite API, select Use, then Generate new token.
- Name the token Sam and choose whether to restrict it by IP.
- Copy the token. MailerLite only shows it once.
Step 2 - Open the integrations marketplace
Select Connect your tools at the bottom of the left sidebar, above your profile. Search for MailerLite or find it under Browse Integrations.
Step 3 - Paste it in and connect
Select MailerLite, paste what you copied into the fields Sam shows, and select Connect. Once it succeeds, it moves to your Connected tab.
When you connect, you may see a screen of checkboxes, and some are easy to scroll past. Sam can only do what you allow. If you untick one, the matching actions in the list above will fail with a permission error.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will Sam email my list without asking?
No. Sending or scheduling a campaign always stops and asks you to confirm. Campaigns are created as drafts until you do.
The connection stopped working. What happened?
MailerLite tokens belong to the person who created them. If that person is removed from your MailerLite account, the token stops working. Create a new one and reconnect.
Why doesn't my email look the way Sam designed it?
Custom email designs need MailerLite's Advanced plan. On other plans MailerLite wraps the content in its default template.
