Tell Sam what you want and let it delegate

Sam runs your marketing team. Bring it a goal and it works out what needs to happen.

Sam is the one to talk to when you know what you want to achieve but not necessarily how to get there. It plans the work, decides which team member should handle each piece, and brings the finished result back to your conversation.

Select SAM at the top of the sidebar to open a conversation.

The Sam start screen, with what Sam can help with and three quick starts

What Sam does

  • Coordinate your marketing team of specialists
  • Plan product launches and go-to-market strategy
  • Delegate tasks to the right specialist automatically
  • Review your marketing performance across channels

Sam also answers general questions itself, so you do not need to send everything to a team member.

Quick starts

Three buttons on Sam's start screen get you moving without writing a brief: Plan a product launch, Create a lead magnet and Help me grow my audience.

Sam's playbooks

Sam has its own playbooks, aimed at running the business rather than producing a single asset. Select the book icon in the message box to see them, or find them under Playbooks in the sidebar.

Sam's playbooks: What Should We Do Next?, Make SAM Smarter, Morning Briefing, Weekly Business Review and Competitor Watch

  • What Should We Do Next? digs through everything Sam knows about your business and hands you the fastest moves to make now.
  • Make SAM Smarter shows you exactly what Sam does not know yet, so you can see what to fill in or connect next.
  • Morning Briefing gives you a daily action plan rather than a data dump.
  • Weekly Business Review gives you the verdict on your week: better or worse, and why.
  • Competitor Watch keeps an eye on your competitors for you.

Every playbook, for Sam and the team, is also under Playbooks in the sidebar. See Run a campaign in one click.

When to use Sam instead of a team member

Go to Sam when you have a goal. "I want more people on my email list" or "I'm launching next month" is Sam's territory, because working out the pieces is its job.

Go to a team member when you already know exactly what you want made. If you are not sure, start with Sam. See Meet your marketing team.

Getting better results

Sam works from what it knows about your business, so the more it has, the better its plans. Connecting your platforms gives it real numbers to plan against instead of assumptions. See Connect a tool to Sam.

What you tell Sam in conversation carries forward too, so time spent explaining your business early pays off in everything afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Sam and the team members?
Sam plans and hands out the work. Team members do hands-on work in one area. Give Sam a goal and it decides who does what.

Do I have to go through Sam?
No. You can work with any team member directly. Sam is the easier route when you are not sure who should handle something.

Where does the work Sam hands out end up?
Back in your conversation with Sam, as cards you can open, and in Content.

How do I see what Sam has handed out?
Each piece appears in Work under Tasks, and a dot shows next to the team member doing it.

Can Sam set things up for me?
Yes. Sam can create automations and custom skills from a conversation, so you can ask rather than build them yourself.
