Use Slack with Sam

Connect Slack and Sam can read what is happening in your public channels and post updates, such as a report, a summary or an alert, to the channel you choose. Posting asks you to confirm first.

Connect Slack

What you'll need
  • →A Slack workspace where you are allowed to add apps. Some workspaces need an admin to approve new apps.

Step 1 - Open the integrations marketplace

Select Connect your tools at the bottom of the left sidebar, above your profile. Search for Slack or find it under Browse Integrations.

Step 2 - Sign in and approve

Select Connect. Sam shows what it will be able to do, then sends you to Slack's own sign-in page. Sign in with the account you want Sam to work in and approve the access.

Step 3 - Name it and choose who can use it

Give the connection a name, choose who on your team can use it, and select Finish setup. It moves to your Connected tab.

Leave every permission ticked

When you connect, you may see a screen of checkboxes, and some are easy to scroll past. Sam can only do what you allow. If you untick one, the matching actions in the list above will fail with a permission error.

If Sam says it can't reach Slack later on, see When Sam can't reach one of your tools.
